As the best man for my brother’s wedding, I designed the wedding invitations. The couple wanted the invitation to communicate “Modern Filipino-Chinese”. The brief reflects the union of two cultures, changes in traditions (for example, the couple opted not to use diamonds in their rings for ethical reasons), and pride in their heritages.

I found inspiration in Shanghai, Fujian, and Philippine art deco, which communicated modernism yet left room for vernacular design. A few elements from Chinese architecture and Philippine shell art were also incorporated.
